Who We Are

Samora is an integrated food value company building the infrastructure that connects agricultural producers to growing markets.

Through sourcing, processing, value addition, cold-chain logistics and distribution, we help food businesses procure quality products from one trusted partner while creating reliable market access for local farmers.

Today we serve over 150 businesses across Tanzania and source from approximately 1,000 farmers, creating a more efficient and inclusive food system.

Leadership

Mohamed Haji, Advisor

Mr. Haji is a Director at NextEra Energy Partners and was previously co-founder and CEO of Rotan Energy. He has close to two decades of investment experience, and he previously worked at Silver Lake Partners, a global leader in technology private equity investing, where he was a key member of the investment team dealing with all aspects of transaction execution, portfolio management and origination. Before Silver Lake, Mr. Haji worked at Morgan Stanley as an investment banking analyst, focused on financial institutions and financial technology companies. He holds a BSc in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from MIT and an MBA from Harvard Business School. He is from the United States, Somalia and Kenya.

Bryan McCoy, Advisor

Mr. McCoy was previously CEO of Yalelo, the leader within Africa’s aquaculture sector. He led the team in building a vertically-integrated company across the production, distribution and retail of tilapia and aquafeeds in Southern and Eastern Africa, with the purpose of sustainably providing an abundant supply of affordable protein to growing African markets. He was also previously a consultant at Bain & Company and held various roles at Sdemane Farming, Actis, H.I.G. Capital and TechnoServe. Mr. McCoy holds a BA in Economics from Williams College and an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He is originally from the United States but now splits his time primarily between Kenya and Zambia.

Samuel Killewo, Director

Samuel is a Tanzanian business leader with deep expertise in agriculture, investment, and economic development. Having grown up in Tanzania and been actively involved in crop and livestock production from an early age, he brings first-hand knowledge of the country’s agricultural value chains. Earlier in his career, he supported agricultural investments and later served as a consultant at Dalberg Advisors, a leading global strategy and policy advisory firm, where he advised governments, development institutions, and private sector clients across the agriculture, manufacturing, energy, and digital finance sectors. He also contributed to the development of Tanzania’s national agricultural policy. Samuel holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from Harvard University and is passionate about building resilient agricultural systems that drive inclusive economic growth and sustainable development.

Nii Ashe Bruce, Director

Nii Ashe is an entrepreneur born and raised in Ghana. He is dedicated to transforming Africa’s food systems through innovation, strategic partnerships, and technology. With experience across agribusiness, corporate banking, international development, and technology, he has built businesses that address critical market needs. Before founding Samora Ventures, he co-founded SellRent Ghana, one of Ghana’s leading real estate service firms. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and Liberal Arts from Ashesi University. He is currently a participant in the Stanford Seed Transformation Program, where he is strengthening Samora’s growth strategy and leadership capabilities.

Rahim Mawji, Director

Rahim has varied experiences spanning energy, consulting, and education sectors. He brings deep expertise in business strategy, economic development, and organizational growth. Rahim is the co-author of Tanzania’s Industrialization Journey, 2016–2056, reflecting his commitment to advancing Tanzania’s long-term economic transformation. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Applied Mathematics from Harvard University and a Master’s Degree from Tsinghua University, where he was a Schwarzman Scholar. With roots in both Tanzania and Kenya, Rahim is passionate about building businesses that drive sustainable economic growth and create lasting impact across Africa.

Daniel Glenn, Director

Mr. Glenn served in the United States military for a decade, acting as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy’s elite Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) unit, where he was deployed to Iraq and other hotspots around the globe. He studied International Relations at the United States Naval Academy before earning a M.A. in Government & Politics from the University of Maryland. He earned his second Master’s in Economics & Business as a Schwarzman Scholar at Tsinghua University in Beijing. In the private sector, Mr. Glenn has acted in a variety of capacities: as a turnaround CEO and CIO of an investment firm, as a co-founder, venture capitalist, and now as the Chief of Staff of GoodLeap.
